Clinical Competency Center

Integrating professional clinical teaching resources and providing a high-end immersive learning environment

To uphold the educational mission of nurturing clinical nurse specialists, Chang Gung University of Science and Technology established the Clinical Competency Center in 2010 after approval by the board of directors. Founded on the concept of “student-centered teaching, patient-centered care”, the Clinical Competency Center has developed an advanced medical and nursing education environment and established professional and highly immersive classrooms and clinical skill training rooms. The center’s resources and undertakings are on par with those in nursing programs in countries such as the US, Canada, Denmark and Australia. Furthermore, the center strives to contribute to the dynamic changes within nursing education. We provide simulation-based education and seek to foster clinical critical thinking, teamwork and leadership skills. The center aims to develop a high achievement learning environment that combines“humanity and information; academia and industry.”

The scale of the facility has made it a top ranking immersive learning environment in Taiwan’s medical and nursing school system. It has Objective Structured Clinical Examination Rooms that adhere to national certification standards, fully equipped research spaces, immersive medical dummies, molds for a variety of professional subjects, and full HD smart recording and broadcasting media systems for teaching. In addition to its role as a clinical skills training center, the Clinical Competency Center also provides ideal conditions for national nurse practical skill competitions, development training for teachers, and academic activities. The Clinical Competency Center aims to continue to enhance its resources, develop multi-industry partnerships, and deliver strong academic opportunities and value.
